Twitch is a huge platform for gamers, video producers, and bloggers to stream live video broadcasts to their fans. The Twitch gaming community is massive, with 2.2 million broadcasters live every month.
Bits are the animated emotes that viewers and streamers are able to send to the chat on any broadcast. They are a fun way for viewers to interact with each other and with the streamer that they’re watching.
In this article, we’re going to show you how you can earn these Twitch Bits for free, using your mobile device. Read on for more.
A Breakdown of Bits
As we mentioned above, Bits are the animated emotes that viewers and streamers send to the chat of a stream. Not only are they a fun way to interact, but they actually support the streamer as well.
They are a virtual product that can be purchased online quite easily, and are an excellent way for viewers to support their favorite streamers and amplify their voices on Twitch. They can be accumulated for free by watching online adverts, or they can be purchased.
Bits can then be donated while watching live streams as a way to support streamers. There are various badges to collect, all of which can be obtained by donating Bits, making them fun for viewers as well.
Getting Twitch Bits for Free
Regardless of whether you’re a streamer or a viewer, you can earn Bits for free online. At the time of writing this article, there are two ways that this can be done, and the methods will work on both your PC and your mobile device.

Method #1 – Watching Ads
This is certainly the simpler method, but it might take you quite some time to accumulate a decent amount of Bits. To start, make your way to one of the Twitch channels that you follow, then wait for the stream to load completely.
If the streamer accepts bits, then you’ll see a small, triangular Bit icon in the bottom right corner of the chat box. If this icon does not appear, then the streamer you have selected does not accept Bits, and you’ll have to choose someone else.
If the icon is there, then click on it. A window will pop up, and you should select the “Get Bits” button. Note that the “Watch Ad” button will appear gray if you have already watched a few ads.
Click the Watch Ad button and start watching. An ad will load on your screen, and you’ll have to watch it in its entirety to receive the Bits, which will be deposited directly into your balance.
You’ll be able to receive 5,10, 50, or 100 Bits, but you’ll mostly get 5 or 10 Bits at a time. Your ‘ad counter’ will be reset by 00:00 PST, so start watching ads shortly before then, so that you’ll be able to continue watching ads after as well, to maximize the Bits you receive.
Method #2 – Completing TwitchRPG Surveys
The Twitch Research Power Group, or TwitchRPG, is the official Twitch center for surveying viewers and streamers. Their goal is to improve Twitch’s current features, source new ones, and vote for new Bit emotes.
The surveys only award Bits to those who are quick enough to complete them first. The reward is usually around 500 Bits, so you’ll have to keep on your toes.
You will first need to sign up to TwitchRPG with a verified email, then you will receive a message whenever a survey becomes available. When you complete the survey, you will receive your Bits.
How to Download Twitch
For PC, you will need to navigate to the Twitch website. Select which version of Twitch you want to download (Windows or macOS), then press the download button.
Once the download is complete, click on the executable at the bottom of your browser, and install the application.
For mobile devices, navigate to the App Store if you’re using an iOS device, or the Google Play Store if you’re using an Android device. Search for ‘Twitch’ in the search bar, and download the app.
Twitch Bits are a great way for both streamers and viewers to interact with and support one another. With the option to acquire Bits for free, it’s no wonder that they’ve become so popular after the last few years. Use one of the methods listed above, and you’ll be swimming in Bits in no time.
